“A Covenant Prayer in the Wesleyan Tradition”
(Brian Carr Paraphrase)

I am no longer my own but yours O, Lord.
Put me to what you will, rank me with whom you will.
Put me to doing, put me to suffering.
Let me be employed by You or laid aside for You,
Exalted for You or brought low for You.
Let me be full, let me be empty.
Let me have all things, let me have nothing.
I freely and heartily yield all things to your pleasure and disposal.
And now, most glorious and blessed God,
Father, Son and Holy Spirit,
You are mine, and I am yours. So be it.
And may this covenant which I have made here on earth,
Be ratified in heaven. Amen.

Earlier this year, FUMC initiated a prayer emphasis, asking our people to pray each day. We took a next step, starting in August, by posting prayer requests of our Facebook page. We have now taken another step by sending teams out into the neighborhoods within a 5-minute drive of our church property to pray for our neighbors. You are invited to join in this neighborhood prayer initiative.

Teams leave from the church on Monday and Wednesday mornings at 7:30 am and on Friday and Saturday mornings at 8:30. You can choose to participate for either 30 minutes or for one hour. If there is interest, we will begin a 5-6 pm time slot on Wednesdays.

Our initial goal is simply to drive slowly through one of the four quadrants around the church to pray for our neighbors (See Luke 10: 1-2). As circumstances permit as we get into 2021, we hope to begin interacting with those we see in the neighborhoods. Later, again as appropriate, we plan to begin placing door hangers asking people to provide us their prayer requests and invite them to neighborhood gatherings and small groups. We will not be knocking on doors to initiate conversations.

Please call or text Bruce Kitson at (561) 876-6423 to volunteer for a time slot or if you have any questions. Please call ahead before you come out so we will know to expect you. Thank you.
