Note from the Finance Committee:  This is a time of year that often includes vacations, picnics and travel. The youth embarked on mission trips, reaching out not only to strive to change lives, but to instill changes in their own walk with the Lord. We found ourselves saying goodbye to Pastors Gary & Josias and welcoming Pastors Brian & Evelyn. We certainly have a lot in store with the coming months ahead. Summer brings challenges to the church budget. Our northern members have gone to their summer homes and churches while for many of you there will be Sundays in which you will not be in attendance. With this being said, we ask that you are mindful of your weekly tithes and offerings. In the past, summer has brought with it challenges in making our payments, but this congregation has ALWAYS risen to the task. Have a blessed summer.

Building Security – Due to some recently missing items and the fact that we have found several homeless people in our buildings, a decision has been made to keep the doors locked except when a group is scheduled to be here.  The safety of our congregation, staff and students is our utmost priority.  The office door will be the primary area to enter in the BLC during working hours. To gain access to the other buildings please stop by the office first. All buildings will remain open for your convenience on Sunday mornings. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause. Thank you for understanding.

This July, both residential campuses of the Children’s Home sent a total of 28 children to the Warren Willis United Methodist Camp. These elementary, middle, and high school students spent a week learning about God’s love in real and tangible ways. They met in small groups, played both large and small group games, swam, participated in skills and activities, and met many other children from around the state.
Immediately following their week at camp, the Enterprise campus was visited by the entire Leadership Team from the Warren Willis Camp! This group is comprised of over 100 young adults who have given their summer to serve as camp counselors at this incredible ministry. While on campus, the Team began with an informational session about the history and ministry of the Children’s Home. They then gathered in the gym for worship with the children and staff. Afterwards, everyone shared a meal together, and then the children gave the Team members a tour of their cottages. It was a wonderful day of celebration, as we were able to share in the won-derful work of both vital Conference ministries!

NEWS ABOUT OUR NORTHPORT PARTNERSHIP

As in all of St. Lucie County, our partner Northport VPK-8 School began classes on Monday, August 14. On that day a group of 10 of our members and pastors gathered at the school to form a greeting line for the students as they walked into their first day of class.
Our backpack and school supply drive for Northport was fruitful, as 90 fully stocked back-packs were delivered to the school the week before school started! Many thanks to all who donated these items for the students; and thanks to Catie Traher, Debora Velasquez and Stephanie Bollen, who sorted and transported them to the school.
We had a very informative meeting on Aug. 8 with Lynne Gruszka, the Media Special-ist and Volunteer Relations Coordina-tor at Northport. Two other school staff members attended the meeting with 18 of our church members to learn how we may help the school. A number of ideas were explored that involved both in-classroom and out of classroom help. If you are interest-ed in becoming a part of this effort to transform young lives, please contact Rad Orlandi at the church or Lynne Gruszka at Northport (772-340-4750).
Northport improved from a ‘C’ school to a ‘B’ school over the last year –
Let’s help them get to ‘A’!
